I am a Perfectionist

I am a failure and I admit it. How am I a failure? It is because that I am a perfectionist and I consider myself a failure of being perfect. Why? Because I kept on chasing perfectionism even though I know that nobody’s really perfect. In my perspective, I am a perfectionist because of my ideals, standards and the approval of others.

First, I am a perfectionist because of my ideals. When I think of something, like a dream, goal or a plan for my life, I always have these ideals that always follow perfectionism. I do not think that it is bad generally to look up at these ideals, but what makes it bad for me is that whenever I sometimes compare myself with all of my imperfections versus the perfect ideals, I only see my lacking qualities in a negative way. In result, as a perfectionist, I always make adjustments on myself just to fit these perfect ideals and I always fail to do so.

Following the ideals, one of my reason to chase perfection is standards. With this, I set my standards high. Setting high standards is a positive one, but what makes it sometimes negative for me is that whenever I don’t satisfy my standards, I felt depressed about it. As a perfectionist, I always set my standards perfect, but as I work to satisfy my standards, again, I always fail to do so.

Lastly, I am a perfectionist because for the approval of others. Frankly, I am such a people pleaser. As a pleaser, I chase perfectionism just because I think that in general it is just the right thing to do and most people approves it, which I always fail to do so as well.

To wrap up, I am a completely failure for being perfect and I think that it is ok. 

Failure makes me realize my lacking qualities for me to build, failure makes realize to get out of my comfort zones and to be better than myself yesterdays and lastly, failure makes me realize to simply be myself because I will never have other’s approvals. Because of these realizations from my failures, in general, it gradually makes me to also realize one thing. That is, “I am successful because I choose to accept and learn from my flaws and imperfections”.
